Data protection act 1998:
This law ensures that all personal infomation which is held is used and handled appropriately.Every single person who has personal infomation is entitled to know what infomation is kept about them.
People, businesses and organisations must register with DPA if they process personal infomation about people.Plus they will also have to bide with the eight principles which are set for everyone to follow.The eight principles are designed to make sure that all personal infomation is
-Sent to diffrent countries without the correct protection
-The personal infomation is secure
-Infomation processed in line with all the persons rights
-Personal infomation stored for a valid time
-Relevant infomation is only kept
-used for a limited purpose
-Infomation which is used bides by the law and is fair
The data protection act (1998) allows individuals a right to know what infomation is being kept by organisations which is held digitally and manually .
freedom of infomation act 2000:
This law allows individuals , groups, businesses and organisations to view official infomations which is kept by a public authority, these include
-school
-college
-NHS departments
-The police
-The central
-Government.
20 days are given in total for the authority to release the infomation otherwise the infomation will becomee exempt from the act.This will also apply if the public authority refuse access to the infomation.
computer misuse act 1990:
This law will not allow
-Illegally entering or accessing computer programs and data.
-Unauthorised access with the sole purpose of producing something illegal or committing a crime.
-changing infomation and data on a computer program which is not authorised.Also affecting the reliability of the program and the infomation it contains.
Ethical issues
Organisations have a code of practice where they will state the appropriate uses of computing faculties.
Email:
Spamming , threatening and bullying through emails is prohibited.Individuals are only allowed a limited time for private email time.
Internet:
The code of practice will not allow individuals to surf websites such as gambling or pornography. Furthermore personal purposes for viewing on the internet are very limited but is allowed in a organisation.
Whistle blowing:
This will protect users on the computer when infomation is leaked or misused on the system by other users.The code of practice will protect it administers who run and complete maintenance on servers.These are the people who will the notice the whistle blowing first.
